Ocean Freight Shipping

Ocean Freight

When we think of Ocean Freight, we usually think of shipping containers. We talk about FCL – Full Container Load or LCL – Less than Container Load or groupage. Shipping containers have made shipping goods easier, they are secure – they can be sealed at your warehouse and remain sealed until they get to your customer’s door. They come in different sizes from 10ft to 44ft. They are stackable, so they can fit more on a ship. They can be loaded directly onto a truck to reduce handling and there are specialized containers for different types of goods. They are designed for ocean freight, but there are other options for shipping cargo by sea.

RORO

Cargo that is too large to fit in a container can often be sent on a RoRo – Roll On Roll Off vessel. If it is a vehicle it may be driven directly onto the vessel or for static cargo a MAFI Trailer may be required.

Conventional Cargo

Conventional cargo vessels are used to take bulk cargo which would either not be suitable for shipping in a container or not viable cost wise.
